Hotel jobs in Ethiopia: how to find a role and prepare your first application
Compare departments, check the actual hotel and employer, and use honest examples to show how you work with guests.

Hotels recruit for much more than reception. Depending on the property, teams can include housekeeping, food service, guest relations, reservations, maintenance, finance and administration. A good starting point is the department that matches your skills, the hours you can work and the training requested in an actual advert.
Identify the employer and location
Look at the hotel's own careers page or the official page named in its recruitment notice. Ethiopian Airlines publishes vacancy notices, including some for Ethiopian Skylight Hotel. The hotel also provides its official contact page.
An employer may display older notices alongside newer ones. Check the role, location and deadline individually. A notice for a graphic designer or engineer, for example, does not mean a hotel is currently recruiting receptionists.
Match the role to your evidence
For reception or guest service, prepare examples showing that you can listen carefully, keep an accurate record and respond politely when someone needs help. A classroom exercise, volunteer activity or part-time role can be useful if you describe it accurately.
Housekeeping and food-service work have different duties. Read the advert for the hours, physical tasks, training and experience. Do not claim that a certificate or language is compulsory for every hotel job; requirements depend on the employer and role.
Prepare your application
Use a clear CV with your contact details, relevant education, experience and languages. Add a short application message that names the exact role and explains why your skills fit. If you have no work experience, include a relevant project or training placement and describe what you actually did.
Follow the submission method in the current notice. Some Ethiopian Airlines and Skylight notices ask applicants to bring documents to a named office, while others may use a different route. Do not send original documents to an unverified contact.
Check the interview or assessment
The airline publishes recruitment results and assessment notices. For your own application, check the exact position and current instructions. Confirm the venue, reporting date and required documents directly with the employer, especially if a copied message is unclear.
Before accepting, ask about shifts, transport, meals, pay and the type and duration of the contract. Never pay someone who promises to arrange a hotel job.
Can I work in a hotel without experience?
Some roles or training positions may accept beginners, while others require experience. Read the individual vacancy.
Is an old vacancy still open if it appears on a careers page?
Not necessarily. Check its deadline and ask the employer if the status is unclear.
What should I say in an interview?
Prepare a truthful example of helping someone, handling a problem or learning a new task, and explain what you did and what happened.
